General/Mohamed Zaki attended the launching ceremony of Gowind-class corvette ‘’luxor’’ in Alexandria shipyard and it is the third corvette that has been built on homeland in cooperation with naval group, which is considered one of the largest companies in France in the field of ship building. The ceremony started with a speech by the chairman of Alexandria shipyard ,he pointed out the strategic importance of Alexandria shipyard, especially in the field of heavy industries, as he confirmed about the great jump that has been achieved during the last period as a result of a mutual manufacturing and localize technology in shipbuilding by providing the highest levels of industrial quality control in cooperation with global shipyards. The French ambassador Mr. Stephen Romaté, expressed his gladness with the professional levels that he has seen in Alexandria shipyard workers ,and in their pursuit of using the latest technologies and experiences which enable them to build the new corvette as soon as possible according to the schedule ,as it is considered a special relations between the political leadership in Egypt and France which has witnessed fruitful cooperation in many fields during the recent times.Vice Admiral / Ahmed Khaled the Commander of the Naval Forces confirmed in his word the support of the political leadership and the General Commander of the Armed Forces to implement a comprehensive strategy to develop and modernize the Egyptian naval fleet in order to enhance security and stability in our coasts and territorial water, in addition to supporting the ability to face challenges and risks that the region is experiencing , preparing modern marine units with high combat capabilities. As well as preparing, training and qualifying junior staff at the highest levels, he also expressed his gratitude to all employees who are working in Alexandria shipyard for their exerted efforts in order to contribute to the development of the country.General/Mohamed zaki launched "Gowind- class corvette ‘’luxor’’in order to be prepared to enter the service. At the end of the ceremony, General/ Mohamed zaki checked the first sea trial of the corvette ‘’port said’ with its Egyptian crew ,he also checked marine units which have built in naval forces ,as costal patrol boat ,rig inflatable boat(RIB) for marine special forces during testing their combat readiness in the sea. The Commander-in-Chief confirmed the importance of work with dedication in order to increase marine industrial capabilities and making Egypt a castle of industrialization. The ceremony was attended by the governor of Alexandria and a high-level French delegation headed by the French ambassador besides leaders, workers and engineers of Alexandria Shipyard.
